Choosing a light
What bulb does it take?
It depends on the fixture, and every product page says which. Many of ours have integrated LEDs, meaning there is no bulb to buy and none to replace over the life of the fitting. The rest take a standard E26 screw fit bulb, which is usually not included so you can choose the brightness and colour temperature yourself. One or two of our spotlights take a GU10 instead, and the page says so.
Are the lights dimmable?
Only where the product page says so. Most of our fixtures use an integrated LED and are not dimmable. Fixtures that take a replaceable bulb can usually be dimmed if you fit a dimmable bulb and have a compatible dimmer on the circuit, but check the specification list on the product page before you order rather than assuming.
What colour temperature are they?
Many fixtures let you choose at the point of order, and the options listed are the ones the workshop actually makes. Warm white at 3000K is the safe choice outdoors, because warmer light flatters brick, timber and metal finishes, while cooler white at 5000K or 6000K reads as security lighting and can make an entrance look clinical.
How do I know what size to buy?
Full dimensions are listed on every product page in centimetres. The most common mistake in outdoor lighting is buying too small: a fixture that looks generous in a photograph often disappears against a real double garage or a wide facade. Measure the wall, not the door.
Weather and installation
Are your outdoor lights weather rated?
Ratings vary by fixture and every product page states its own. IP65 means full exposure with nothing overhead. IP44 to IP55 means it handles rain but performs best with some shelter above it. A small number of our decorative pieces are rated for dry locations only and say so plainly on the page and in the title, so read the rating before you choose a spot.
Do I need an electrician?
Hardwired wall and ceiling fixtures should be installed by a licensed electrician. Solar fixtures need no wiring at all and fix with screws, so those you can fit yourself in a few minutes.
How long do solar lights run for?
It depends entirely on how much direct sun the panel collects during the day. Site them where they get several hours of unshaded sun and they will run through the evening. In a shaded spot, or in midwinter, expect noticeably shorter run times. This is how all solar lighting behaves and is not a fault.
Do the fixtures come with mounting hardware?
Yes. Screws and a mounting plate or bracket are included. Wall plugs suitable for your particular wall material are not, since brick, render, timber and stone all need different fixings.

How long does delivery take?
It varies from product to product, because each fixture ships direct from the workshop that makes it. The estimate for a particular item is on its own product page under Shipping and Returns. How do I track my order?

Can I return something?

What if it arrives damaged?
Contact us with your order number and a photograph of the damage and the packaging it arrived in. Do this as soon as you can after delivery. The process is set out on our Return and Refund Policy page.
