Description
The Cowrie is a small ridged fixture whose fluted face fans the light outward in a shell shape. It is the most decorative piece in this range and it comes in two shell styles across three sizes. That shaped, ridged face is unusual for outdoor lighting, where almost everything is a plain box or a lantern, and it is the reason to pick this one. That makes it one of the few outdoor fixtures that earns its place in daylight too.
Three sizes are offered, 12, 16 and 18 cm square, across two shell styles. None of them is large. This is a fixture for adding character to a courtyard wall, a stairwell, a terrace or a run along a fence rather than for lighting a driveway. Grouped in threes or fours it reads as a deliberate feature.
The body is aluminium throughout with an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It is sealed to IP65 for fully exposed positions and arrives preassembled, hardwiring to a standard fixed outdoor connection. The aluminium is powder coated rather than painted on, so the finish holds up outdoors better than a small decorative fixture usually manages. Fitted at eye level the fluting is visible by day as well as lit at night.

Light Fanned Like A Shell
The ridged face spreads the output sideways in a shell shape rather than dropping it straight down, so the wall itself becomes the lit surface. Two colour temperatures let you set it warm at 3000K or crisp at 6000K.
A Finish That Survives Outdoors
The aluminium is powder coated rather than painted on, so the finish holds up in an exposed position better than a small decorative fixture usually manages. Fitted at eye level the fluting is worth looking at by day as well as lit.

Which colour temperature should I pick?
Two are offered. Warm light at 3000K suits a courtyard, a terrace or anywhere you sit in the evening, because it keeps the finish looking soft. White at 6000K is the crisper of the two and reads more functional than decorative, which suits a stairwell or a fence run.
What is the difference between the sizes?
Three are offered across two shell styles. Style A comes at 12 cm square and 6.5 cm deep at 5 watts and 500 lumens, and at 16 cm square with output rising to 1000 lumens. Style B is the 18 cm size. None of them is a big fixture. Choose a smaller one where you want a run of quiet points of light, and the largest where a single sconce has to hold a wall on its own.
Do I need to buy bulbs for it?
No. The LED is integrated into the aluminium body, so there is no bulb to source now and nothing to replace later. That also means the colour temperature is fixed at the point of ordering, so choose between warm at 3000K and white at 6000K before you buy.
Can it go on a fully exposed wall?
Yes. It is sealed to IP65 and the body is aluminium throughout, so it is made for positions with nothing overhead. It arrives preassembled and hardwires to a standard fixed outdoor connection. The powder coated finish is baked on rather than painted, so it copes with an exposed courtyard or fence line.
Which style should I choose?
