Description

The Hollis is a slim acrylic wall light that runs entirely on solar, with no wiring, switch or timer involved anywhere. It charges through the day and comes on by itself once the light drops. That makes it the easiest way to put light somewhere with no power nearby: a fence line, a shed wall, a garden gate, the side of a raised bed.

Set expectations correctly on output. The three LED counts run from 10 to 30 lumens, which is accent lighting, not task lighting. These mark a boundary, define a level change or add a soft point of light to a dark corner. They do not light a path well enough to read by. Fitted in a run at even spacing the effect is a quiet line of glow.

The body is ABS and acrylic, sealed to IP65 so it copes with a fully exposed position through rain and frost. It fixes with screws and needs no electrician and no trench. Because the panel is small, site these where they catch direct sun for a few hours rather than under a tree or against a north facing wall, or they will run flat early. They are inexpensive enough that fitting six is a reasonable way to light a boundary.

Hollis Solar Accent Light, Small White IP65 Waterproof Wireless Solar

Light Where No Power Reaches

A fence line, a shed wall, a garden gate or the side of a raised bed rarely has a cable anywhere near it. This runs entirely on solar, so it goes up with screws and needs no electrician and no trench.

Outdoor lighting in use

Accent Glow, Not Task Light

Output runs from 10 to 30 lumens depending on LED count. That marks a boundary, picks out a level change or softens a dark corner. It will not light a path well enough to read by, and it is not meant to.

Siting It For Sun

The panel is small, so put these where they catch direct sun for a few hours rather than under a tree or on a north facing wall, or they run flat early. The body is ABS and acrylic, sealed for rain and frost.

Frequently asked questions

Which LED count should I choose?

Three are offered and the difference is the number of LEDs in the head. The 1 LED gives about 10 lumens, the 2 LED about 20 and the 3 LED about 30. All three are accent lights. Pick the 3 LED where you want the most glow from a single fixture, and the 1 LED where you are running several along a fence and want them to read as a line rather than as lamps.

Is there any wiring or a switch?

None. It runs entirely on solar with no wiring, no switch and no timer to set anywhere. It charges through the day and comes on by itself once the light drops. Fitting is screws into the fence, wall or post, so there is no electrician and no trench involved at any stage.

Will it light a path?

Not really, and it is worth being clear about that. At 10 to 30 lumens this is accent lighting. It marks a boundary, defines a level change or puts a soft point of light in a dark corner. Fitted in a run at even spacing you get a quiet line of glow rather than a lit walkway.

Can it stay out in rain and frost?

Yes. The body is ABS and acrylic sealed to IP65, so it copes with a fully exposed position through rain and frost with nothing overhead. That is why it suits a fence line, a shed wall or a gate. Fix it with screws into something solid enough to hold it steady in wind.

Where should I site it so it charges properly?

The panel is small, so these want a spot that catches direct sun for a few hours. Under a tree, in the shade of a hedge or against a north facing wall they will charge poorly and run flat early in the evening. An open fence run, a shed wall or a gate post in the open works best.
