The Alden is a round glass globe held in an aluminium cradle and hung on an adjustable chain. It is a straightforward retro shape, the kind of thing that reads as a period porch light without being a heavy reproduction lantern. Because the glass is clear, the bulb you choose is visible, which makes bulb selection part of the look rather than an afterthought you deal with later.

It is made in a single size, scaled to sit comfortably on a modest porch and still hold its own under a generous covered entrance or a pergola. The chain is 50 cm and adjustable, so you can set the drop to the height you are working with rather than accepting a fixed one. Black and bronze finishes both suit brick, painted timber and stone equally well.

It takes a standard E26 bulb, which is not included. That gives you control over colour temperature and brightness, and lets you fit a filament bulb if you want the exposed retro look, or a warm frosted one if you would rather soften it. The fixture is rated IP54, which means it handles rain but is happiest under a porch roof or a covered walkway rather than fully exposed to the weather.
