Description

The Ryland is a compact aluminium fixture whose head rotates after mounting, so you set the direction of the light once the fitting is on the wall rather than committing to it beforehand. That is genuinely useful, because the angle that looks right on a drawing is rarely the angle that works once you are standing in the garden at night looking at the result.

Four versions are available, combining two finishes with two control types. Black and white suit different facades, and you can choose either a plain wall switch version or one with a built in motion sensor that lights up on approach and switches off by itself. At 24W and 2400 lumens this is a bright fixture, so it earns its place on a driveway or a large blank wall.

The body is aluminium with a polycarbonate shade, finished in black or white. The LED is integrated so there is no bulb to buy, and the housing is sealed to IP65 for fully exposed positions with nothing overhead. It arrives preassembled and hardwires to a standard fixed outdoor connection. At 15 cm wide it stays visually quiet despite the output it delivers. Mounted at around two metres it lights the ground without throwing glare towards a window.

Ryland Rotating Wall Light, Black IP65 Waterproof LED Motion Sensor Ou

Aim It After Fitting

The head rotates once the fixture is on the wall, so you set the direction standing in the garden at night looking at the result, rather than committing to an angle that only looked right on paper.

Outdoor lighting in use

Bright Where It Counts

At 24W and 2400 lumens this is a proper output, which is why it earns its place on a driveway or a large blank wall. Mounted at around two metres it lights the ground without glare towards a window.

Small Body, Sealed Housing

At 15 cm wide it stays visually quiet on a wall despite the output it delivers. The body is aluminium with a polycarbonate shade in black or white, sealed to IP65, and it arrives preassembled ready to hardwire.

Frequently asked questions

What are the four versions?

They combine two finishes with two control types: black or white, and wall switch or motion sensor. The finish is about matching the facade. The control decides whether the light is switched like a normal fixture or lights up on approach and switches itself off. All four run at 24W and 2400 lumens.

Should I choose the motion sensor version?

It depends how the spot is used. On a driveway or beside a garage you visit occasionally, the sensor version lights on approach and switches off by itself, which saves running 2400 lumens all night. Where you want the area lit for a whole evening, the wall switch version is the simpler choice.

How high should it be mounted?

Around two metres works well. At that height the beam lands on the ground rather than at eye level, so you get a usable pool of light without glare towards a window. The head rotates after mounting, so you can fine tune the angle once the fixture is up and you can actually see the effect.

Should I choose black or white?

Both finishes are offered with either control type. Black recedes against dark cladding, grey render and modern brickwork, so the fixture stays quiet in daylight. White suits pale render, painted brick and a light garage elevation. Output is the same 24W and 2400 lumens whichever you pick.

Can it go on a fully exposed wall?

Yes. The housing is sealed to IP65 for fully exposed positions with nothing overhead, so a driveway wall, a garage elevation or a large blank gable is fine. It arrives preassembled and hardwires to a standard fixed outdoor connection, so you need a cable brought to the position rather than a socket.
