Description
The Orbit is a shallow round ceiling fixture in black aluminium with an acrylic diffuser, only 7 cm deep. It is the standard answer for a covered outdoor ceiling where headroom matters: a porch, a carport, a balcony soffit, a garden room or a covered side passage. The acrylic face lights evenly across the whole diameter rather than showing a bright centre. The shallow depth matters more on a soffit than most people expect.
Six sizes are offered, which is an unusually complete range and worth using properly. The 14.5 cm version at 500 lumens suits a small entrance lobby. The 40 cm at 3600 lumens will light a full carport bay on its own. Because outdoor ceilings absorb more light than interior ones, sizing up one step from what looks right on paper is usually correct.
The frame is aluminium and the housing is sealed to IP65, which covers wind driven rain under an open sided structure as well as fully exposed positions. It arrives preassembled and hardwires to a standard fixed connection, mounting directly against the ceiling. At this depth it reads as part of the soffit rather than as a fitting bolted to it. A single unit centred on a small porch ceiling is usually all that is needed.
